New Delhi, May 31 (NationPress) The initial 100 days of the BJP-led government in Delhi have marked a significant turning point for the city's trajectory and overall state, declared Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday. She assured the public of her administration's commitment to transparency and fulfilling every electoral promise.
During a special dialogue moderated by actor Anupam Kher at the ‘100 Din Sewa Ke’ event held at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, CM Gupta highlighted her government’s major accomplishments during the first century of days in office.
She pointed out that although these early days are limited in number, the choices made within this timeframe are set to lead to profound and enduring improvements in both the direction and condition of Delhi.
The event saw participation from all Cabinet Ministers, Members of Parliament, MLAs, and senior officials.
According to CM Rekha Gupta, Delhi epitomizes the essence of unity amid diversity. To celebrate this ethos, the government plans to honor the State Day of each Indian state with remarkable fervor and splendor in Delhi, allowing residents to connect with and cherish the nation’s diverse cultural heritage.
Regarding the Yamuna River, the CM remarked, “The previous administration merely staged a performance regarding the river's cleanliness, while untreated sewage continued to be discharged into it. In stark contrast, our government prioritized the rejuvenation of the Yamuna from day one.”
An allocation of Rs 9,000 crore was made in the Delhi Jal Board budget to enhance the sewage system and water supply infrastructure. Additionally, several Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in regions such as Narela, Rohini, Najafgarh, and Coronation Pillar have undergone upgrades.
Under the AMRUT 2.0 initiative, Rs 804 crore was sanctioned for the rehabilitation of eight more STPs. To further bolster these efforts, 40 new Decentralized Sewage Treatment Plants (DSTPs) have been launched.
CM Rekha Gupta also conveyed, “In the past 100 days, several lakh metric tonnes of waste have been extracted from drains, and officials have been instructed to finalize drain cleaning ahead of the monsoon.”
Work on sewer and water pipelines has commenced in approximately 1,700 unauthorised colonies, directly benefiting millions of residents, she noted.
Furthermore, a state-of-the-art command-and-control center has been set up, 1,167 GPS-enabled tankers have been deployed, and the DJB Water Tanker App has been launched for tracking water supply.
“In South Delhi, 70 new tube wells have been installed, providing direct benefits to nearly 1.5 lakh individuals,” she added.
