Chennai, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, is all set to inaugurate the eagerly anticipated Semmozhi Park in Coimbatore today, marking a significant milestone in a cultural initiative that was first proposed 15 years ago.
Back in 2010, during the World Classical Tamil Conference held in Coimbatore, the former Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi announced plans for a Classical Language Park encompassing 165 acres within the Gandhipuram Central Jail complex.
However, the project stalled following a change of government in 2011. With the return of the DMK to power in 2021, the initiative was revitalized.
In its initial phase, the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation began constructing Semmozhi Park on a 45-acre site, with a projected budget of Rs 208.50 crore.
The Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for this project in 2023, and now the construction has been completed.
CM Stalin will inaugurate the park this morning during a comprehensive visit to the industrial city.
According to the itinerary, he is scheduled to leave Chennai at 10:05 a.m. and will arrive at Coimbatore International Airport at 11:15 a.m., where he will receive a warm welcome from DMK officials and volunteers.
From the airport, the Chief Minister will head to Gandhipuram at 11:45 a.m. to formally open the Semmozhi Park.
He is expected to explore various attractions within the park such as the Semmozhi Forest, Herbal Garden, Puzzle Garden, Health Forest, Water Forest, Rock Forest, Flower Garden, and the Hill View area.
Additionally, he will attend a cultural event at the Waterfall Hall.
Post-inauguration, CM Stalin will engage with approximately 150 esteemed guests, including school students, business leaders, and technology specialists at the auditorium of the park. This session aims to discuss Coimbatore’s growth, developmental prospects, and youth involvement.
After this interaction, the Chief Minister will take a short break at a private hotel on the Coimbatore - Avinashi Road.
Later in the evening, at 5 p.m., CM Stalin will participate in the 'TN Rising' industrial event, where several companies are anticipated to sign Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in his presence, indicating significant investment commitments for Tamil Nadu.
In preparation for the Chief Minister's visit, around 1,500 police personnel have been deployed throughout Coimbatore district to ensure thorough security measures.
CM Stalin's visit is forecasted to significantly enhance Coimbatore's cultural, industrial, and economic landscape, with the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Semmozhi Park serving as the highlight of the day.
