Varanasi, July 17 (NationPress) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed concerns on Friday regarding the actions of certain individuals who are attempting to stir up caste-based discord within society using fake social media accounts.
During the launch of a national seminar dedicated to the tribal icon 'Dharti Aaba' Bhagwan Birsa Munda in Varanasi, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of staying alert against such divisive elements.
“Our primary challenge today lies with those aiming to fragment society. Some individuals are intentionally inciting caste conflicts through bogus social media profiles. We are committed to taking stringent measures against them,” he stated.
Reflecting on a past incident, Yogi remarked, “A couple of years back, in the context of an arson case, a man donned in a saffron towel was heard saying 'Ya Allah'. Such behaviors reveal the true nature of those who attempt to mislead and foster unrest. It is critical to identify and expose these individuals.”
On recent religious observances, he noted that the state government had placed limitations on the height of Tazias during Muharram to prevent accidents.
“In Jaunpur, a Tazia was elevated to such a height that it came into contact with a high-tension wire, leading to the death of three individuals and igniting riots,” he explained.
The Chief Minister defended his controversial approach, stating, “I instructed the administration to deal firmly with such individuals — they will not heed otherwise. There was no opposition to this approach.”
He further accused that armed protests during Muharram in the past often resulted in violence, creating an unsafe environment for women and girls.
Conversely, he commended the Kanwar pilgrims for their peaceful expressions of faith. “Today, Kanwariyas walk extensive distances chanting 'Har Har Bam' while carrying Kanwars. Yet, they face media scrutiny and are unfairly labeled as rioters or terrorists. This perspective disrespects India's rich heritage and faith,” he remarked.
Earlier, Yogi Adityanath conducted a review meeting at the Circuit House in Varanasi focusing on development projects and law enforcement. He directed police personnel to monitor those attempting to disrupt the community through fake social media profiles.
