Cold Wave Hits Telangana: Minimum Temperatures Plummet Below 10°C

Hyderabad, Jan 3 (NationPress) A cold wave has enveloped Telangana, with minimum temperatures plummeting to single digits in 15 out of the state's 30 districts on Friday, officials reported.

As per the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), the average minimum temperature across the state was recorded at 13.3 degrees Celsius, which is 2.7 percent lower than the normal levels.

Many areas, including the state capital Hyderabad and its outskirts, experienced a significant decline in night temperatures.

Kumaram Bheem Asifabad recorded the lowest temperature at 6.5 degrees Celsius, making Sirupur (U) the coldest location in the state.

Sangareddy district faced frigid conditions at 6.9 degrees Celsius, followed by Adilabad at 7.1°C, Vikarabad at 7.3°C, and Rangareddy at 7.5°C.

Other districts that recorded minimum temperatures below 10°C include Kamareddy (8°C), Nirmal (8.5°C), Mahabubnagar (9°C), Rajanna Sircilla (9°C), Medak (9.1°C), Medchal Malkajgiri (9.6°C), Siddipet (9.7°C), Jayashankar Bhupalpally (9.9°C), Narayanpet (10°C), and Jagtial (10°C).

In and around Hyderabad, the mercury level saw a dramatic fall.

Moinabad in Rangareddy district near Hyderabad felt the biting cold with temperatures dropping to 7.5°C.

Moulaali in Medchal Malkajgiri district noted a minimum temperature of 9.6°C.

Fifteen districts experienced minimum temperatures ranging from 10.3°C to 13.2°C.

The Hyderabad district reported an average minimum temperature of 17°C, with Maredpally being the coldest at 12.1°C.

Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted cold wave conditions in isolated areas of Adilabad, Kumaram Bheem Asifabad, and Nirmal districts on Saturday.

The IMD bulletin noted that predominantly low-level North-Easterlies are prevailing over the state.

Dry weather is anticipated to continue for the next seven days.

During the next five days, mist or hazy conditions are expected in isolated pockets across Telangana during the morning hours.

Minimum temperatures are projected to remain below 2 to 4°C for the following three days.

For Hyderabad and its vicinity, the IMD has forecasted a partly cloudy sky over the next 48 hours.

Mist and hazy conditions are likely to occur during morning hours.

Maximum and minimum temperatures are forecasted to be around 3°C and 14°C respectively.

Surface winds are expected from the North-Easterly direction, with speeds ranging from 4-8 km per hour.
