New Delhi, Jan 24 (NationPress) Following the alleged misconduct of Anas Khan, son of AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, towards Delhi Police officers, leaders from Congress expressed unease regarding the sense of entitlement exhibited by certain individuals in positions of power.

The incident, which unfolded during a standard security check in Okhla, has ignited a political discourse surrounding accountability and adherence to the law.

Congress National Spokesperson Pawan Khera denounced the actions of the AAP leader's son, asserting, "Such scenarios were infrequent in Delhi a few decades back, yet we are now witnessing a troubling mindset resurfacing -- that 'you don’t know who my father is'. This mentality is harmful to our nation's capital and democracy."

Congress spokesperson Supriya Shinate also shared her thoughts, condemning the idea that one’s family ties can exempt them from following the law.

"It is irrelevant whether you are the son of an MLA. As a citizen, you are obligated to respect the laws of this nation. No one is above the law, including traffic regulations," she remarked.

"This sense of entitlement extends beyond Delhi; similar incidents have been reported in states like Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. I recently came across a video from MP showing a minister’s son driving dangerously in an open car at high speeds, creating reels, with no one intervening. This is a clear abuse of power and shows a blatant disregard for public safety."

The incident in Delhi's Okhla happened during a security operation ahead of Republic Day when two individuals were observed riding a motorcycle with a modified silencer, causing a disturbance.

The police intervened for breaching several provisions of the Motor Vehicle Act, imposing fines amounting to Rs 20,000 and filing a case against the two individuals. One of the riders allegedly identified himself as Amanatullah Khan's son, claiming that the officers were targeting him due to his father's political influence.

Delhi Police stated that the duo also neglected to present their driving licenses and identification, asserting that they were not obliged to do so.

This is not the first instance involving the AAP MLA's family in a controversy. In May 2024, Amanatullah Khan's son and his associates assaulted several employees at a Noida petrol station in Sector 95, and the video of the violent incident went viral on social media.
