New Delhi, Feb 12 (NationPress) In the wake of an intensified manhunt by the Delhi Police for AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan, who is alleged to have orchestrated an attack on a police unit, BJP officials have firmly declared that 'Gunda Gardi' (lawlessness) will be met with zero tolerance in the nation's capital.
Speaking to IANS, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh remarked, "Delhi and the nation are posing the same inquiry: Where is this criminal MLA? Who is concealing him, and who is providing him sanctuary? The AAP has morphed into a refuge for corrupt, deceitful criminals. It’s a sorrowful truth that the AAP has transformed into a haven for such individuals across the nation."
Lok Sabha member Yogendra Chandolia also weighed in, underscoring, "If the police are pursuing him, he must be somewhere in Delhi. So why isn't he heading to the police station to assist? Is he hidden away in some cellar while remaining in the city? The Delhi police need to act quickly and apprehend him now."
He further stated, "Gunda Raj has no place in Delhi. Just because Amanatullah Khan holds the position of an MLA does not imply he is above the law. If the police fail to arrest him within 24 hours, they should hold his family accountable, just as they would with any ordinary criminal. They will summon them, sit them down, and compel them to bring him to the station. Only after significant effort will Khan likely make an appearance."
Amanatullah Khan, on the other hand, has refuted allegations of evading arrest. In a correspondence to the Delhi Police Commissioner, the AAP leader denied the accusations, asserting that he was not in hiding and charged the police with falsely implicating him.
The Okhla MLA had secured his position in the February 5 Assembly elections with an impressive margin of 23,639 votes. Nevertheless, his party AAP experienced a drastic downturn, securing only 22 seats—down from 62 previously—while the BJP made a notable resurgence, seizing 48 seats and reclaiming power in Delhi after 27 years.
