Kejriwal Encountered ‘Water Assault’ During Padyatra

New Delhi, Nov 30 (NationPress) Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was assaulted with water by a protestor on Saturday while he was undertaking a padyatra in south Delhi’s Malviya Nagar colony. The attacker was apprehended by police.
The individual responsible for the water assault has been identified as Ashok Jha. The motive behind this incident remains unclear.
Supporters of AAP have accused BJP members of being behind the attack, a claim that the Delhi BJP has refuted, questioning why only Kejriwal seems to be targeted ahead of elections, despite having a security detail.
The AAP posted on social media asserting that even a former Chief Minister of Delhi is now not safe in the city.
Earlier that day, Kejriwal visited the Panchsheel Park colony in the same Greater Kailash constituency to meet with the family of 64-year-old Rohit Kumar Alagh, who was murdered on Monday.
After his visit, the AAP National Convenor stated, “The family of the victim is in profound shock.”
Kejriwal remarked that the murder in Panchsheel Park, known as one of the most upscale areas in the city, highlights that no one is secure in Delhi.
He noted that senior citizens like Alagh are feeling vulnerable and entrepreneurs are receiving extortion calls, emphasizing the allegedly worsening law and order situation in the Capital.
“There is widespread fear in Delhi due to the rise in crime, and I urge Union Home Minister Amit Shah to take action against it. I hope for improvements soon,” he stated.
The Delhi BJP condemned all forms of violent protests but described the incident of throwing water on Kejriwal as an “old wine in a new bottle”.
Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor noted that elections occur nationwide, and leaders engage in campaigns under various security levels. However, such peculiar incidents seem to only happen to Arvind Kejriwal during every Assembly election.
“Delhi residents are questioning why these occurrences consistently involve Arvind Kejriwal,” he remarked, indicating that this incident has validated Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva’s recent prediction that the AAP leader would stage a repeat of the “slap incident” of 2019 when he was attacked during a road show.
