AAP Demonstrates Against Declining Law and Order in Delhi; Criticizes Central Government

New Delhi, December 4 (NationPress) Members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) organized a demonstration on Wednesday, calling for urgent intervention from the Union government regarding the escalating law and order crisis in the national Capital.

The protest, spearheaded by Delhi Minister Gopal Rai along with other AAP MLAs, underscored the alarming rise in criminal activities under the purview of the Union Home Ministry, which manages Delhi's law enforcement operations through the Lieutenant Governor (LG) and the Delhi Police.

During the protest, Gopal Rai conveyed serious apprehensions about the safety of Delhi's residents, asserting that the city is transforming into a “crime capital.”

“Currently, the entire city is afflicted by crimes -- theft, robbery, and shootings have become commonplace. Just this morning, three family members were viciously murdered. Women, senior citizens, and workers venturing out feel threatened. Yet, Union Home Minister Amit Shah chooses to remain silent, providing no remedies for the escalating criminality,” Rai stated to IANS.

He compared Delhi's situation unfavorably with Punjab, where AAP holds power, claiming, “We have effectively reduced crime in Punjab through resolute measures. Amit Shah needs to clarify why similar outcomes cannot be realized in Delhi.”

Other AAP MLAs voiced strong criticism of the Union government and the Delhi Police for their inability to uphold law and order.

Rohit Mehraulia, an AAP MLA, remarked to IANS, “Residents of Delhi are engulfed in persistent fear. Law and order have entirely disintegrated. This debacle rests with Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the LG, both of whom have failed to guarantee safety in the city.”

Kuldeep Kumar highlighted the disturbing increase in violent crimes, stating, “Every morning, newspapers report on murders, shootings, and assaults. Women are being assaulted, business owners are being threatened, and the elderly are being victimized. In spite of this, the Delhi Police seems apathetic. Amit Shah must be held responsible for this negligence.”

Another AAP MLA, Durgesh Pathak, cited specific incidents to emphasize the deteriorating conditions -- murders and shootings in areas such as Mangolpuri, Shalimar Bagh, and Narayana.

“Crimes happen daily, yet the BJP downplays these events as trivial. It is disgraceful that they refuse to address these pressing matters,” he remarked to IANS.

Previously, former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also launched a vehement critique of the BJP-led central government following the discovery of three family members deceased in their home in the national Capital. The AAP National Convener accused the Centre of permitting criminals to operate freely and neglecting to maintain law and order in Delhi.
