Bhopal, Nov 25 (NationPress) The Madhya Pradesh Congress party, on Tuesday, expressed its disapproval of senior IAS officer Santosh Verma for his controversial remarks regarding Brahmin girls and has called for the state government to take appropriate action against him.
Verma, who was recently appointed as the provincial president of the Anusuchit Jati Evam Janjati Adhikari and Karmachari Sangh (AJAKS), has made alleged inappropriate comments on Sunday while advocating for reservations.
In a viral video, he was heard stating, "Reservations will persist until a Brahmin donates their daughters to my son or permits her to engage in a relationship with him." This statement has ignited controversy, particularly from the Brahmin community in Madhya Pradesh.
In reaction to Verma's comments, former Congress Minister Mukesh Nayak remarked on Tuesday, "The IAS officer's statement is not just objectionable, it's offensive. His words threaten social harmony, and the state government must take immediate measures against him."
Nayak, who also heads the Madhya Pradesh Congress Media cell, emphasized that Verma's remarks breach the Civil Service (Conduct) Rules, highlighting the necessity for stringent action against him.
To demonstrate their dissent, Congress members organized protests in Bhopal and across Madhya Pradesh, even burning effigies of the IAS officer on Tuesday.
During the protests in Bhopal, Congress workers utilized objectionable language on camera.
In another development, numerous representatives from Brahmin organizations met with Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla, presenting a memorandum that demanded punitive measures against IAS officer Verma.
Pushpendra Mishra, the state president of All India Brahmin Samaj, stated, "We demand an immediate FIR against the IAS officer for his highly indecent remarks about Brahmin daughters. If no FIR is filed, the entire Brahmin community will initiate state-wide protests."
Controversies seem to follow IAS officer Verma, who was originally part of the Madhya Pradesh State Administrative Service. He gained notoriety in 2021-22 for allegedly forging court orders and falsifying signatures of a special court judge to falsely claim relief in cases against him.
Verma was subsequently arrested after the concerned judge lodged a complaint regarding the forgery of court documents, linked to accusations of criminal intimidation of a woman. Reports suggest he used the forged documents to facilitate his promotion from the state administrative cadre to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
