Belagavi, Feb 13 (NationPress) In light of the criticism aimed at the Viksit Bharat—Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) Act, the President of Karnataka's Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra expressed on Friday that the opposition is not merely directed at the scheme; it stems from the Congress's inability to accept Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During an awareness event regarding the Union government's VB-G RAM G Act, Vijayendra claimed that the resistance towards the Act is fundamentally about the Congress's disdain for Prime Minister Modi.

He highlighted the lack of available medications in government hospitals, stating that the impoverished are suffering in district and taluk hospitals. He accused the Congress of even obstructing the establishment of Jan Aushadhi Kendras initiated by Prime Minister Modi.

Vijayendra mentioned that since India's Independence, a non-Congress party has governed at the Centre, which he believes is the core of Congress's 'allergy'.

“In the past three general elections, the BJP-led NDA government has secured power at the Centre. A leader from a backwards class, Prime Minister Modi, has ascended to the role of the country's Prime Minister. The Congress leaders are struggling to cope with the fact that India has become the world's fourth-largest economic power under his stewardship,” he remarked, criticizing the Congress.

He further accused the Congress party, which held power for nearly six decades, of failing to eradicate poverty, even alleging that it has contributed to the elimination of the poor instead.

He questioned whether the Karnataka government had introduced any new developmental schemes in the last two-and-a-half years.

“Congress celebrates giving Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Laxmmi scheme in Karnataka, while at the same time, they have set an ambitious revenue target of Rs 40,000 crore for the Excise Department, unable to generate funds for the scheme,” he alleged.

Vijayendra pointed out that while finding a medical shop within 500 meters might be uncertain in the state, a liquor shop is easily accessible.

He criticized the Congress-led Karnataka government for allowing liquor sales in grocery stores, labeling it a significant failure.

“The achievement of this Karnataka government is giving Rs 2,000 under the Gruha Laxmi scheme while extracting Rs 10,000 from the same household through liquor sales,” he claimed.

He questioned whether Chief Minister Siddaramaiah recognizes the struggles of the poor among backward classes, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Veerashaivas, and the Vokkaliga community.

“As Chief Minister, have you managed to bolster the livelihoods of working communities in Karnataka over the past two-and-a-half years?” Vijayendra queried, suggesting that the answer is no.

He criticized the Karnataka government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for their inability to allocate funds for their own MLAs.

“To maintain his position, the Chief Minister has arranged foreign tours for ruling party MLAs. It is unrealistic to expect the state's development from such a disgraceful Congress government,” he alleged.

He stated that the Union government has enacted a new law under the VB-G RAM G initiative.

“There was previously a scheme called 'food for work', which evolved into the employment guarantee scheme, MGNREGA.”

“Now, the Union government under PM Narendra Modi has transformed it, instituted numerous reforms, curtailed corruption, and executed it effectively. Naturally, the Congress is not only criticizing it but also issuing advertisements. A resolution against the VB-G RAM G Act was passed in the recent Karnataka Assembly session,” Vijayendra alleged.

He questioned which Union government scheme has been accepted by the Congress government in the last two-and-a-half years.

“The Prime Minister introduced the New Education Policy to propel the country forward, yet the Congress government and the Chief Minister have obstructed it,” he claimed.

“Under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, PM Narendra Modi has been transferring Rs 6,000 into farmers' accounts. When B.S. Yediyurappa was the Chief Minister of Karnataka, he added an extra Rs 4,000, a feat no other Chief Minister in the nation has matched, but that too was halted,” he alleged.

He noted that the Raitha Vidyanidhi scheme initiated by former Chief Minister and senior BJP leader Basavaraj Bommai was also discontinued.

“When Prime Minister Modi proposed the 'One Nation, One Election' concept, the Congress resisted it. They also opposed amendments to the Waqf Act aimed at preventing alleged encroachments on farmers' lands in the state,” he added.
