Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, Jan 10 (NationPress) The President of Karnataka BJP, B.Y. Vijayendra, on Saturday lambasted the Congress-led state administration for deceiving the public with misleading claims regarding Central government initiatives, thereby fostering misconceptions among citizens.
During a press briefing, Vijayendra questioned if it was inappropriate for Prime Minister Narendra Modi to allocate several lakh crore rupees through the VB–G RAM G scheme aimed at realizing the vision of rural upliftment.
He emphasized that the BJP and JD(S) would not permit Congress's misleading narratives to remain unchallenged, pledging to engage with communities at the grassroots level to clarify the facts with citizens and party members.
Expressing approval for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's initiative to call for a special Assembly session to deliberate on the VB–G RAM G scheme, Vijayendra stated that the BJP is fully prepared to discuss the matter in the legislative assembly.
"Let’s evaluate the Congress's actions regarding MNREGA over the years and contrast it with our achievements over the past decade under Prime Minister Modi's guidance," he challenged.
He inquired whether it was wrong for the Prime Minister to prioritize the effective execution of the scheme and ensure its benefits reach the impoverished by investing Rs 7–8 lakh crore to fulfill Mahatma Gandhi's vision of Gram Swaraj.
Vijayendra accused the Congress party, which held power for several decades, of neglecting meaningful schemes in favor of scams.
He highlighted the increase in guaranteed workdays from 100 to 125.
Vijayendra affirmed that decision-making authority would remain intact at the gram panchayat level, asserting that the Central government under Prime Minister Modi has not undermined the powers of gram panchayats.
He asserted that the VB–G RAM G scheme is designed for the holistic development of rural India through effective execution. He charged that the Congress, which governed the nation for 55 to 60 years, never prioritized developmental schemes but solely engaged in corruption.
He remarked that due to various "scams" during the Congress era and UPA governance, India fell short of becoming a developed nation.
Vijayendra mentioned he wouldn't delve into details of past scandals like the 2G spectrum fiasco and the coal scam during the UPA period.
Present at the press conference were Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy, Legislative Assembly Opposition Leader R. Ashoka, Legislative Council Opposition Leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, JD(S) Legislature Party leader Suresh Babu, JD(S) Youth Wing State President Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and BJP State Chief Spokesperson C.N. Ashwathnarayan.
