New Delhi, Nov 28 (NationPress) The Union Minister of Jal Shakti, C.R. Paatil, initiated strategic discussions focusing on water management during the two-day 'Vision for Sujalam Bharat' Summit 2025, as confirmed by an official announcement.

Paatil stated that in alignment with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, the Sujalam Bharat Summit, organized by the Ministry of Jal Shakti and in close collaboration with NITI Aayog, seeks to incorporate grassroots viewpoints into national policymaking.

The summit aims to bolster water management, sanitation, and sustainable practices throughout the nation, according to a statement from the Ministry of Jal Shakti.

He highlighted that the summit represents a crucial component of a larger national initiative to amalgamate scientific methodologies, sustainable practices, and community engagement into a cohesive framework for enduring water security.

The Minister remarked that the Vision for Sujalam Bharat will direct India’s unified efforts to ensure a sustainable water future. He expressed his confidence that all participants would share their perspectives, contribute their field knowledge, and assist in fine-tuning a practical, proactive strategy for a water-secure and climate-resilient India with active community involvement.

He urged that the summit should commit to realizing the Prime Minister's vision of a Sujalam, Sustainable, and Prosperous Bharat for future generations.

The inauguration ceremony of the summit saw the attendance of approximately 250 participants, including representatives from Central Ministries, states and Union Territories, technical experts, Panchayat members, NGOs, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), community organizations, and recipients of the National Water Awards and the Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari Awards.

During the inaugural session, the Union Minister of Jal Shakti unveiled the Book on Jal Sanchay Jan Bhagidari 1.0, highlighting community-led groundwater recharge initiatives and successful water conservation models from across the nation.

A report on the Assessment of the Ecological Status of the Barak River Basin for Conservation Planning was also presented, offering essential scientific insights to inform basin-wide restoration strategies.

Additionally, the Ganga Pulse Public Portal was launched, providing an integrated digital platform to improve public access to real-time information and promote broader engagement in river health monitoring, as stated.

The summit will feature thematic sessions on six key areas: Rejuvenation of Rivers and Springs; Sustainability of Drinking Water; Technology for Efficient Water Management; Water Conservation and Recharge; Greywater Management and Reuse; and Community and Institutional Engagement for Behaviour Change.

Based on participant feedback, the Ministry will compile key insights into a structured set of actionable recommendations to guide the subsequent phase of implementation across relevant departments and partner organizations, as noted.
