Cuttack, Jan 21 (NationPress) The city of Cuttack in Odisha is preparing for an extravagant celebration of 'Parakram Diwas' on January 23, commemorating the birth anniversary of the iconic freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This year’s festivities are set to be historic, as they will be the first-ever three-day observance from January 23 to 25, a joint initiative by both the Central and state governments.

The main venue for the celebrations will be the Netaji Birth Place Museum, where extensive preparations are underway. Similar to past years, a variety of programs and exhibitions are scheduled, showcasing different facets of Netaji’s remarkable life.

Arundhati Mishra, a curator at the museum, provided insights into the extensive collections available for viewing.

“We have 12 galleries dedicated to various chapters of Netaji’s life,” Mishra explained.

“From childhood photographs to personal items such as cups and plates from his household, each section of the museum narrates a distinct story. Our political gallery features his interactions with prominent leaders, while the Odisha gallery emphasizes his profound bond with the region,” she added.

The museum also showcases original handwritten letters from Netaji’s imprisonment, offering visitors a rare insight into his thoughts and challenges. A particularly captivating section is devoted to his daughter, Anita Bose, featuring a rich assortment of personal memorabilia that further highlights the family’s legacy.

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, has been a beacon of unmatched bravery and patriotism for countless generations of Indians.

To celebrate his legacy, the Government of India proclaimed his birthday as 'Parakram Diwas' in 2021, a day aimed at motivating citizens, particularly the youth, to exhibit the same courage and national pride that Netaji exemplified. Parakram Diwas, translating to 'Day of Valour', is a homage to his enduring influence.

The inaugural commemorative event took place in 2021 at the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata. In 2022, a holographic statue of Netaji was unveiled at India Gate.

Furthermore, a proposal has been made for the construction of a model of the National Memorial dedicated to Netaji on Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.
