New Delhi, Oct 23 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva stated on Thursday that thanks to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta’s dedicated eight-month initiative, the water of the Yamuna is now suitable for bathing and sufficiently pure for ‘aachman’ (ritual drinking), demonstrated by one of his party associates.
Highlighting the significant enhancement in the river’s water quality during the initial eight months of CM Gupta’s administration, Sachdeva remarked that due to the Delhi government’s committed and earnest efforts to cleanse the Yamuna, Delhi BJP spokesperson and environmental specialist Anil Gupta performed aachman (drank the holy water) from the Yamuna at Kalindi Kunj and ITO ghats in front of reporters.
He mentioned that Anil Gupta not only showcased aachman of Yamuna water live on television but also provided online monitoring data that confirmed the absence of foul odor in the Yamuna water, with oxygen levels ranging from 4.5 to 5.5 and a pH of 7.5, which is nearly normal.
He disclosed that on October 25, 2024, just ten days before Chhath Puja, he had taken a dip in the Yamuna at the ITO ghat in Delhi to reveal the river’s condition to the world.
“The world saw the Yamuna had turned into a filthy drain, and that dip resulted in hospitalization for me,” he expressed in a statement.
He noted that his dip at ITO last year also unveiled the alleged corruption by the Aam Aadmi Party government and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal under the guise of cleaning the Yamuna.
The President of Delhi BJP remarked that whether it was Yamuna Maiya or Chhath Maiya, the Arvind Kejriwal government was involved in corruption in their names, and today, it is due to that corruption that the AAP party has lost power.
This news regarding the enhancement of the river’s water quality coincides with an announcement by Delhi’s Arts, Culture, and Language Minister Kapil Mishra that Chhath Puja will be celebrated at over 1,000 locations throughout Delhi.
Earlier this week, Mishra convened a meeting with the Purvanchal Morcha to assess preparations for ‘Chhath Puja 2025’.
He informed Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha and other Morcha members that this year's Chhath Puja will be the most extensive celebration ever experienced in the city.
