New Delhi, Oct 25 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva took significant steps on Saturday to clean and reopen a Chhath Puja Ghat situated beneath the pontoon bridge near Yamuna Bank Metro Station, addressing a longstanding request from the Purvanchal community.

Sachdeva personally visited the under-construction Chhath Ghat, engaged in the cleanliness initiative, and stated that the development of this ghat—previously closed by the former Arvind Kejriwal government—has met the needs of residents from nearby areas such as Laxmi Nagar and Pandav Nagar.

On Friday morning, numerous East Delhi residents from the Purvanchal community, led by Dinesh Pratap Singh, a member of NDMC and patron of Bihar Jagran Manch, approached Sachdeva, as reported by a statement from Delhi BJP.

The residents informed the Delhi BJP chief that the Chhath Puja Ghat had been closed by the Kejriwal government in 2020 and requested his assistance in reopening it.

In response, the Delhi BJP President swiftly contacted local officials, secured approval for the ghat's reconstruction, and initiated construction with JCB machines, according to the statement.

Sachdeva remarked that while the Kejriwal administration hindered religious and cultural festivities, the BJP government under Chief Minister Rekha Gupta is fostering celebrations filled with joy and enthusiasm for the people.

Accompanying Sachdeva on Saturday were NDMC member Dinesh Pratap Singh, MLA Abhay Verma, Shahdara District BJP President Deepak Gaba, Delhi BJP Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha, Councillor Sandeep Kapoor, Neelam Neetu Chaudhary, Ramkishore Sharma, and numerous members of Bihar Jagran Manch who participated in the cleanliness drive at the ghat.

Dinesh Pratap Singh expressed gratitude on behalf of the Purvanchal community and members of Bihar Jagran Manch of East Delhi to both the Delhi BJP President and the Delhi Government for the reopening of the Chhath Ghat near Yamuna Bank Metro Station.
