New Delhi, Oct 9 (NationPress) Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva commended Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday for initiating projects totaling Rs 1,816 crore focused on the cleaning of the Yamuna.
He noted that these initiatives, launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, are designed to enhance both the sewer and drinking water supply systems.
The Delhi BJP chief remarked that HM Shah had made various commitments during the release of the party manifesto prior to the Delhi Assembly elections.
In just eight months—from September 17 to October 9—during the Pradhan Mantri Seva Pakhwada, significant development and reform projects worth Rs 3,600 crore have been executed, thus fulfilling those promises, he asserted.
Sachdeva pointed out how the public has witnessed the Aam Aadmi Party and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal “misappropriating” Delhi’s funds under the guise of Yamuna cleaning from 2013 to 2024, including a colossal Rs 60,000 crore scandal involving the Delhi Jal Board.
“Conversely, the citizens are now observing CM Rekha Gupta’s administration diligently working to deliver on the promises of Yamuna cleaning, sewage system enhancements, and provision of clean drinking water,” he commented.
Additionally, Delhi BJP Spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor criticized AAP leaders for attempting to politicize the protest by Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) workers and other contract employees, alleging that the AAP government had betrayed these workers during its tenure.
Kapoor emphasized that both the BJP-led state government and the municipal administration are dedicated to improving the service conditions and compensation for these workers.
He mentioned that a collective policy decision regarding the service terms and salaries of contract workers will be announced soon.
The BJP spokesperson contended that statements from AAP leaders, including Sanjay Singh, regarding the MTS workers’ demands and strike are merely insincere sentiments.
The MTS workers recognize that the financial demands compelling them to strike are a direct outcome of the actions taken by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government over the past decade, which has severely impacted the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.
Kapoor stressed that this is a critical time for monitoring dengue and malaria, and that striking during such a period is unethical.
He urged the workers to return to their responsibilities for the benefit of society and engage in discussions with the Mayor about their grievances.
