New Delhi, July 12 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta criticized the former AAP government for its apparent disinterest in central government-funded projects. On Saturday, she emphasized that her administration is focused on cleaning the Yamuna, ensuring tap water accessibility for every household, and beautifying the city.
“Arvind Kejriwal demonstrated a lack of commitment to development, even with the central government ready to invest crores of rupees. The Yamuna remains unclean,” CM Gupta stated during the inauguration of a power sector initiative in north Delhi.
She unveiled a Rs 8 crore pilot project aimed at replacing overhead electricity lines with underground cables in Shalimar Bagh.
CM Gupta also mentioned that her government has allocated Rs 100 crore for similar initiatives across various colonies this financial year.
Speaking to residents at Janata Flats in Shalimar Bagh, she asserted, "Our objective is to eliminate overhead wires, enhancing the city’s beauty, safety, and organization.”
This project is expected to mitigate fire hazards and is being realized through the efforts of Minister Ashish Sood, who oversees both the fire and power departments.
“Enhanced wiring will significantly lower fire risks. I’m pleased that Delhi’s inaugural project of this nature is commencing in Shalimar Bagh,” she remarked, referring to her Assembly constituency.
She also detailed her attempts to reform the DDA’s policy to facilitate the creation of parks and gardens on vacant plots in certain colonies.
CM Gupta expressed gratitude to voters for supporting the BJP and stated, “A new era of development has begun under the double-engine government.”
She commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his backing of the city's development and efforts to clean the Yamuna.
“He promptly approves all projects, even those requiring substantial investments,” she noted.
Additionally, she thanked PM Modi for the approval of Rs 3,000 crore allocated for constructing a road on a raw water canal in north Delhi.
Cleaning the Yamuna and providing tap water to every household are our government’s principal objectives, she affirmed.
CM Gupta reiterated her commitment to delivering piped cooking gas to all villages within the city.
