Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Dec 14 (NationPress) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta emphasized the government's commitment to combat pollution on Sunday, criticizing former CM Arvind Kejriwal for frequently abandoning the city for Vipassana retreats every six months. “We are united in this struggle. Unlike others, we are not fleeing Delhi's challenges,” stated CM Gupta in a post on X.
She further remarked, “My Delhi, My Responsibility — we are dedicated to resolving these issues from within the city. We are implementing both immediate and long-term strategies to tackle pollution.”
CM Gupta highlighted that the government is actively seeking solutions while remaining in Delhi. “If the public endures hardship, so do our families. We must work together to eradicate pollution at its source,” she added.
The CM assured that the government has allocated adequate resources for the pollution fight, stating that negligence will not be tolerated.
She mentioned that 70 road sweeping machines have been distributed to the MCD, along with the installation of 1000-litre pickers in Assembly constituencies and super suckers in every ward.
“All of these initiatives are fully funded. To enhance the cleaning infrastructure, the MCD has been granted an extra Rs 500 crore, with an additional permanent grant of Rs 300 crore,” the CM reported.
Furthermore, she announced the development of 50 shuttle parking facilities. “The Delhi government will finance these projects to minimize roadside parking, improve traffic flow, and reduce pollution,” she stated.
CM Gupta also mentioned the accountability of the 311 app and ongoing improvements to drainage and road systems.
“We maintain a zero-tolerance approach toward open burning, with fines reaching Rs 5,000. For the first time in the city, a biogas plant has been initiated to process 1,500 metric tons of cow dung daily,” she concluded.
