Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, April 13 (NationPress) - Chief Minister Rekha Gupta reassured the residents of Delhi on Monday that the supply of both domestic and commercial LPG is currently stable, sufficient, and well-managed, with no issues regarding the availability of this essential cooking gas or any other fuels.
She encouraged citizens to remain calm and not to fall prey to misleading rumors.
Providing an update on domestic LPG supplies, the Chief Minister noted that on Sunday, there were 1,11,766 bookings recorded, while the three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) successfully delivered 1,30,094 cylinders, exceeding the bookings considerably.
This reflects that the backlog is being addressed effectively, and the supply chain is robust. The average delivery time has improved from 4.24 days to 3.87 days, ensuring that deliveries are made promptly to consumers' doorsteps.
On the commercial side, Delhi's daily quota is 6,480 LPG cylinders (19 kg equivalent), while the average daily consumption over the past week was just 4,268 cylinders, including 5 kg Free Trade LPG cylinders, indicating that supply is surpassing demand.
The Chief Minister urged commercial LPG users, particularly those utilizing 5 kg cylinders, to avoid panic buying or unnecessary stockpiling.
She reaffirmed that the distribution network throughout the city is operating smoothly, with sufficient stock available.
To enhance accessibility, a dedicated control room operated by the Food and Civil Supplies Department is in place. Any commercial users experiencing difficulties in obtaining LPG cylinders can reach out at 011-23379836 or 8383824659 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Gupta mentioned that the government is promoting the use of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) wherever feasible, as it ensures a reliable and consistent fuel supply.
Bulk consumers, such as hospitals and educational institutions, are advised to transition to PNG as soon as possible to improve efficiency, safety, and supply reliability.
Additionally, residents are encouraged to consider electric or induction cooking as a sustainable long-term solution for uninterrupted energy access.
She reiterated that the Delhi government is diligently monitoring the situation on a daily basis and remains committed to providing a consistent LPG supply across the capital.
