New Delhi, July 17 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Delhi, Rekha Gupta, strongly criticized the former Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) administration on Thursday, accusing it of significant financial misconduct and corruption related to the 'Jai Bhim Mukhyamantri Pratibha Vikas Yojana'. During her visit to a Kanwar Shivir in the national capital, CM Gupta stated, “When a bill of Rs 150 crore is presented under the guise of a Rs 15 crore scheme, how can one expect proper governance? Past administrations thrived on corruption, but we will eradicate it,” she asserted, vowing to take decisive action against those implicated.
Earlier, CM Gupta shared on X that, “The 'Jai Bhim Chief Minister Talent Development Scheme' managed by the AAP has unveiled severe financial discrepancies for the year 2021-22. Although the budget allocated for this initiative was merely Rs 15 crore, the AAP government pushed through documents with fraudulent claims totaling nearly Rs 145 crore.”
She condemned the previous administration for exploiting the future of Dalit students under the guise of Dr B.R. Ambedkar’s name.
“The AAP seized power in the name of Dalit children while robbing them of their educational rights. They have not only tarnished the legacy of Baba Saheb but also sullied the sanctity of education,” she remarked.
The scheme aimed to provide free coaching to underprivileged students from Dalit backgrounds.
However, CM Gupta pointed out that audits revealed fraudulent claims in numerous institutions.
“The ACB will reveal the truth. The residents of Delhi deserve clarity on how the AAP betrayed those it pledged to uplift,” she added.
The BJP-led government has committed to enhancing transparency and accountability in welfare programs, indicating that the AAP may face challenges as its leaders continue to be under investigation for alleged corruption.
