Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 16 (NationPress) In a significant move, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has directed the Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) to investigate the delays associated with the Barapullah project, which aims to extend the existing elevated corridor. This decision comes as a critique aimed at the preceding AAP government for its inability to execute the project efficiently.
Gupta highlighted that the government is deeply concerned about the unwarranted delays experienced under the former administration.
Upon its completion, the project is expected to facilitate direct, signal-free travel from Mayur Vihar in East Delhi to AIIMS in South Delhi, enhancing connectivity significantly.
The revised budget for the construction of the Barapullah Phase-III elevated road, which will span over the Barapullah drain and connect Sarai Kale Khan to Mayur Vihar, has been set at Rs 1,635.03 crore, as stated in the announcement.
According to the Chief Minister, this initiative will drastically shorten travel time for the numerous commuters journeying daily between East and South Delhi. Additionally, it is anticipated to relieve traffic congestion around Sarai Kale Khan, Ring Road, the DND Flyway, and NH-24. The government aims to finalize the project by June 30, 2026.
Gupta emphasized her administration's commitment to modernize the capital's infrastructure, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a more developed India. These initiatives represent tangible efforts toward establishing a 'Viksit Delhi', enhancing the efficiency of the city's transport system.
She reiterated her government's dedication to ensuring rapid, transparent, and accountable infrastructure development in Delhi. While many initiatives faced delays during the previous government's period, the current administration is focused on timely project completion to improve mobility for the residents of the capital.
