New Delhi, Nov 16 (NationPress) Emphasizing her commitment to the progress of Delhi, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took the lead on Sunday in advocating for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates in the forthcoming Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections, engaging in a series of meetings across Najafgarh and Shalimar Bagh.
Interacting with residents in rural regions, she pointed out the neglect faced by villages in the city by previous administrations.
"The villages and rural sectors of Delhi have been overlooked in terms of development for many years. Former governments failed to address essential services or focus on the requirements of these areas. However, since the BJP assumed control in Delhi, we are witnessing continuous advancements in basic amenities across every street, locality, and ward," the Chief Minister remarked.
Encouraging BJP members to connect with the electorate, CM Gupta stated, "It's vital for us to engage with the public and discuss the speed and significance of these developmental initiatives. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, we are dedicated to transforming Delhi into a developed city."
In a post on X, she noted, "During the Tridev Conference held in Najafgarh, I had the pleasure of meeting our dedicated activists who came from the Dichauan Kalan area."
Asking for support for the BJP candidate in the MCD elections, she said, "We must ensure Rekha Rani ji wins from Ward Number 128 to reinvigorate the development of both Najafgarh and the Dichauan Kalan region."
Notable attendees included BJP MP Kamaljeet Sehrawat, BJP MLA Neelam Krishna Pahalwan, Abhay Verma, former Mayor Bipin Bihari Singh, and local BJP leaders.
In Shalimar Bagh, the Chief Minister engaged with members of the local Resident Welfare Association (RWA) on Sunday morning.
In a tweet, CM Gupta stated, "I met with community members at the RWA conference in Trilok Bhawan, Shalimar Bagh, and urged them to support the BJP in the upcoming municipal corporation by-elections."
She highlighted the remarkable pace of development within the Shalimar Bagh Assembly constituency over the last eight months, providing an update on her constituency's progress.
CM Gupta urged, "To further enhance this development journey, I call on all of you to support Anita Jain. With your assistance, we can strive to make Shalimar Bagh a model, safe, and developed area. With everyone's backing, a sweeping victory for the BJP across 12 wards in Delhi is assured."
A total of 53 candidates are contesting for the 12 seats in the upcoming by-elections on November 30, with the vote counting scheduled for December 3.
The BJP previously held nine out of the twelve vacant wards where by-elections are planned.
