New Delhi, March 2 (NationPress) On Monday, women beneficiaries in Delhi expressed their gratitude towards the state government after the introduction of various women-focused initiatives, notably the enhanced Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar scheme, and the Saheli Pink Smart Card.
A participant of the Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana remarked, “I extend my heartfelt thanks to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. This support encourages me to pursue my education while assisting my family.”
Another beneficiary from the Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar scheme stated, “I plan to invest this in my education and aim to launch an e-commerce venture.”
The official unveiling took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, officiated by President Droupadi Murmu, alongside Chief Minister Rekha Gupta.
Also attending were Lt Governor V.K. Saxena, Union Minister Harsh Malhotra, Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa, and MLA Pankaj Singh.
Under the Meri Poonji, Mera Adhikar initiative, Rs 100 crore has been directly deposited into the bank accounts of over 40,000 girls, representing one of the most substantial direct benefit transfers in Delhi aimed at female recipients.
This program is part of the revamped Lakhpati Bitiya Yojana, which supersedes the previous Ladli Scheme and increases financial support at critical educational milestones.
During her address, President Murmu stated, “I believe these initiatives will empower the women of Delhi, significantly contributing to the city's prosperity.”
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta characterized the day as historic, saying, “This is a moment of trust. It celebrates the journey of a daughter from birth to independence. Our vision aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra of Nari Shakti Vandan, centering women in the nation-building process.”
The newly launched Saheli Pink Smart Card aims to facilitate free bus travel for women, enhancing their access to education, employment, and public venues. Officials noted that these new initiatives, along with existing welfare programs like free LPG cylinder distribution during festivals, showcase the government's unwavering commitment to women’s social security and financial empowerment.
