New Delhi, Feb 5 (NationPress) The Delhi Police has apprehended two individuals associated with the Khalistani movement for inscribing inflammatory slogans at different sites within the national capital as the Republic Day festivities approached, as reported by officials on Thursday.

These arrests occur amidst intensified security protocols in the city and the ongoing surveillance of potential threats related to pro-Khalistan factions.

As per police sources, the two suspects were allegedly acting under the guidance of the US-based Khalistani separatist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun and his organization, 'Sikhs For Justice'.

Investigators suspect that the suspects were recruited as part of a synchronized strategy aimed at inciting unrest and undermining public safety in the lead-up to January 26.

Authorities revealed that a close associate of Pannun, believed to be based in Canada, had enlisted the two suspects, identified as Baljinder and Rohit, also known as Kirath, to execute the operation in Delhi.

Baljinder reportedly works as an ambulance driver in the capital, while Rohit is described as his associate and partner.

Police further noted that the alleged architect of the conspiracy, residing in Tilak Nagar in west Delhi, had traveled to Canada shortly before Republic Day and maintained direct communication with Pannun during the planning stages of the operation.

Investigators believe that the orchestration of the act was coordinated from abroad.

Officials indicated that the suspects were allegedly incentivized with Rs 2 lakh to inscribe the slogan 'Khalistan Zindabad' at specific sites across the city.

The motive behind this act, as per police suspicions, was to foster unrest and instill fear in the national capital just ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, a time when security measures are heightened.

The Delhi Police confirmed that both suspects are in custody and undergoing interrogation. Authorities have also initiated efforts to identify and trace other individuals who may have been involved in the conspiracy or provided logistical or financial support for the operation.

These arrests follow the registration of an FIR against Gurpatwant Singh Pannun by the Delhi Police on January 23, concerning alleged threats to disrupt peace in the capital ahead of Republic Day.

The case was initiated after a video circulated on social media in which Pannun purportedly issued warnings about instigating unrest in Delhi during the national celebrations.

Sources from the police revealed that in the video, Pannun claimed pro-Khalistan posters had been affixed in multiple areas, including Rohini and Dabri, by what he referred to as sleeper cells operating within the city.

However, officials from the Special Cell conducted on-site verification at the reported locations and found no such posters, suggesting that these claims may have been designed to spread panic or misinformation.

Authorities have stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover the full scope of the alleged network and to assess possible connections between the detained individuals and foreign operatives involved in pro-Khalistan activities.
