New Delhi, Nov 10 (NationPress) Shortly after the explosion at Delhi’s Red Fort that resulted in the tragic loss of eight lives and left numerous others injured, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to Home Minister Amit Shah for a detailed briefing on the unfolding situation.
According to sources within the government, PM Modi is actively monitoring the developments.
In a similar vein, Home Minister Amit Shah communicated with Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golcha and Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Deka.
The Union Home Minister also contacted NIA DG Sadanand Vasant Date and recommended the deployment of an NIA team to the scene.
This explosion, which occurred near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday, has instigated widespread panic throughout the national capital, prompting authorities in the Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, and Mumbai regions to issue a heightened alert.
The victims have been transported to LNJP Hospital for treatment. Sources indicate that an alert has been issued for Delhi, Mumbai, and Uttar Pradesh. As reported by the Delhi Fire Department, several sounds resembling blasts were recorded, leading to the activation of emergency protocols.
Notably, earlier in the day, the J&K Police dismantled a transnational terror module linked to Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind, which resulted in the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives, along with assault rifles, pistols, timers, and additional materials in the Faridabad area of Haryana, close to New Delhi. Authorities confirmed that seven individuals have been detained so far.
The J&K Police stated that this operation follows the discovery of Jaish-e-Mohammad propaganda in various locations in Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar, on October 19, which included threats directed at police and security personnel.
“The operation resulted in the apprehension of seven key operatives and the recovery of a substantial cache of arms, ammunition, and nearly three tonnes of improvised explosive device materials during coordinated searches across several states. This module was involved in identifying, radicalizing, and recruiting individuals for terrorist activities, in addition to fundraising, logistics, and procuring arms, ammunition, and explosive materials,” the police reported.
This seizure, coupled with the explosion at the Red Fort, transpires just one day prior to the second phase of the Bihar assembly elections.
