New Delhi, Dec 23 (NationPress) On Tuesday, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta presented a remarkable Coffee Table Book to Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal. The book, titled “Delhi Legislative Assembly presents Shatabdi-Yatra, Veer Vithalbhai Patel,” honors Vithalbhai Patel, who was the first Indian elected Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly.

The publication serves as an important historical artifact that documents India's parliamentary evolution from 1925 to 2025, paying homage to Vitthalbhai Jhaverbhai Patel, who was instrumental in establishing India’s modern parliamentary practices.

During the meeting, the Minister shared that development initiatives worth around Rs 72,000 crore are presently in progress in Delhi, with more projects on the horizon for the National Capital.

Manohar Lal also informed the Speaker that the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is set to enhance travel connections from Panipat to Karnal.

Furthermore, several strategies are being devised to expand the Delhi Metro network, focused on boosting urban mobility and enhancing regional connections.

Gupta expressed that the Coffee Table Book captures a century-long narrative of India’s legislative and democratic evolution.

This volume features rare archival images, historic documents, and significant events that have shaped Indian democracy since the early 20th century.

A standout feature of the book is its thorough documentation of the 2025 All India Speakers’ Conference, which commemorates a century since Vithalbhai Patel’s election as the first Indian Speaker of the Central Legislative Assembly, marking a critical chapter in India’s parliamentary history.

The Speaker also updated the Union Minister on the various initiatives executed by the Delhi Legislative Assembly, such as the complete implementation of the Audit Para Monitoring System (APMS) within the Government of the National Capital Territory of Delhi. This achievement positions Delhi as potentially the first State Assembly in India to roll out a comprehensive real-time audit monitoring portal, as indicated by an official statement.

He further elaborated on transformative projects like NeVA (National e-Vidhan Application), which has transitioned the Assembly into a fully digital and paperless institution, alongside the successful conversion of the Assembly into a fully solar-powered green legislature. Additionally, ongoing efforts are underway to designate the Delhi Legislative Assembly as a Heritage Site, preserving its democratic heritage while allowing public access to its historic premises.

The meeting reinforced the mutual commitment of both the Delhi Legislative Assembly and the Union Government to fortify democratic institutions, expedite infrastructure development, and promote sustainable, transparent governance.
