Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Jan 4 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, was present at the 'Delhi Shabdotsav 2026' on Sunday. He emphasized that his administration is firmly dedicated to safeguarding the demographic integrity and cultural heritage of Devbhoomi.
He criticized previous governments for the rampant illegal constructions that have resulted in numerous encroachments in the mountainous regions.
During his participation on the event's final day, CM Dhami highlighted that land encroachment represents a calculated scheme, where extensive areas of government land were unlawfully occupied using colored sheets.
“We initiated an anti-encroachment drive, removed illegal residents, and cautioned unlawful occupants to vacate government land. While some relinquished their claims, others were evicted with administrative support,” he informed the gathering.
CM Dhami further stated that the state has reclaimed over 10,000 acres of illegally occupied land in Devbhoomi.
“We have also initiated a campaign against individuals who disrupt the demographic equilibrium and tarnish sacred sites. Numerous names have been added to family registers in Uttarakhand since 2003. We have recently decided to consolidate family registers across all districts and conduct an investigation,” he noted.
On the topic of the closure of the Madrasa Board, he mentioned that legislation has been instituted to improve minority education.
“Starting July 1, 2026, madrasas that do not adhere to the curriculum set forth by the Uttarakhand government will be shut down. We have already closed over 250 illegal madrasas,” he asserted, cautioning against the exploitation of educational institutions for promoting radical ideologies.
“This legislation benefits all communities, including Sikhs, Jains, Parsis, Buddhists, and Christians,” he added.
CM Dhami also shared insights into the Ayushman Yojana (health scheme), noting that while the initial budget was around 100-200 crore rupees, expenditures ballooned into several hundred crores, prompting an inquiry that established irregularities, leading to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Focusing on his vision for Devbhoomi, he stated, “We aim to build a clean and safe Uttarakhand for future generations. We do not wish to leave our children with an insecure future. Hence, we are clearing encroachments and undertaking developmental projects grounded in dharma (righteousness).
