Chennai, Feb 28 (NationPress) The production team behind the much-anticipated action film 'Kara', directed by Vignesh Raja and starring Dhanush in the leading role, has officially revealed that the movie will be released globally on April 30 of this year.

This announcement was made by Ishari K Ganesh, the head of Vels Film International, the studio responsible for bringing this film to life.

While attending the two-day cultural festival at VELS University, named VELS Nakshatra 2026, producer Ishari K Ganesh, who also serves as the university's Founder and Chancellor, expressed, “If I had to label a project as my dream, it would undoubtedly be 'Vada Chennai 2' featuring Dhanush. Additionally, Kara is set to premiere in theaters on April 30.”

The film's title was initially announced during Pongal celebrations this year, along with a striking poster that showcased Dhanush's intense demeanor, accompanied by the tagline, "Sometimes, staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive."

Director Vignesh Raja took to his social media to share, "D54 is Kara. An emotionally rooted suspense thriller. We are coming this summer. #D54 is #Kara. #HappyPongal #HappySankranti. Directed by @vigneshraja89. Produced by @IshariKGanesh. A @gvprakash musical."

Previously, a behind-the-scenes image of Dhanush was shared, showing him in character while using an STD booth, along with the caption, "Straight from the sets of #D54 - Shoot in progress! @dhanushkraja".

The film, which was previously referred to as #D54, stars Mamitha Baiju as the leading lady.

Featuring a remarkable cast and a talented technical team, the film includes notable actors such as K S Ravikumar, Jayaram, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunas, and Prithvi Pandiraj in significant roles.

On the technical side, the cinematography is handled by the highly regarded Theni Eswar, while editing is done by Sreejith Sarang. The soundtrack is composed by National Award-winning artist G V Prakash.

Most importantly, the narrative of the film is co-authored by writer Alfred Prakash and director Vignesh Raja, who previously collaborated on the critically acclaimed investigative thriller 'Por Thozhil'.

In a prior interview, Alfred Prakash expressed that he and director Vignesh Raja share a deep understanding, which enhances their collaborative writing process.

The duo, who spent four years perfecting the script for 'Por Thozhil', believe in the value of co-writing, as it allows each writer to challenge and refine their ideas with one another.
