Mumbai, Oct 7 (NationPress) Actress Disha Parmar, who stepped into motherhood two years back, openly discussed the hurdles she encountered post-delivery, particularly during the breastfeeding phase. In a heartfelt chat with Bollywood star Neha Dhupia on her podcast, she shared that the initial days of breastfeeding were fraught with anxiety, guilt, and confusion as her baby struggled to latch.
Disha recounted, “I remember being in the hospital when they were trying to assist the baby with latching, but it just wouldn’t work. The constant crying made me so uneasy that I ended up asking them to give her formula since she was hungry. I was at a loss for what was going wrong. Even after returning home, the latching issue persisted. That was my major challenge, and I felt completely helpless.”
She went on to explain, “I even sought help from a lactation consultant to figure out the issue, but it took quite some time.” Disha also revealed her struggle with milk production. “Initially, I think my milk supply was not adequate.”
She acknowledged the crucial support of her “Japa,” who became her savior during this tough journey. “I owe a lot to my ‘Japa,’ who arrived and really helped. She showed my child how to latch properly when I couldn’t. I often cried to her, and she reassured me, saying, 'It’s okay; this happens to many mothers; it’s a normal process.' Both the mother and child need time to adjust.”
Disha concluded, “You can't expect to master everything on day one; it’s a learning experience for everyone, and that’s perfectly fine.”
For those unfamiliar, Disha Parmar is married to singer Rahul Vaidya, and the couple welcomed their first child, a daughter named Navya, in September 2023.
