Haveri (Karnataka), Oct 23 (NationPress) - A devastating incident unfolded during a bull-taming competition held to celebrate the Diwali festival in Haveri district, resulting in the tragic loss of three lives. Multiple injuries were also reported when a bull charged into a residence in Malluru village of Byadagi taluk.
The deceased have been identified as 75-year-old Chandrashekara Kodihalli, 75-year-old Ghani Saab, and 24-year-old Bharath Hingameri. Two victims died on Wednesday, while another succumbed to injuries on Thursday.
Bharath Hingameri, a local from Tilavalli village, was fatally injured when a bull attacked him while he attended the bull festival. Eyewitnesses reported seeing the bull charge into the crowd, striking Bharath in the chest. He was immediately taken to Haveri district hospital but unfortunately passed away on Thursday night.
Chandrashekara Kodihalli, a retired government worker, was attacked by a bull as he was returning home near Baroda Bank close to Siddappa Circle in Daneshwari Nagar. The bull charged unexpectedly, knocking him to the ground and causing severe head injuries. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
Another victim, Ghani Saab, was sitting outside his home when a decorated bull invaded his premises during the competition. He suffered injuries to his neck and chest during the incident, which occurred in Devihosur village.
The Haveri Rural Police have launched an investigation into the incidents.
In a separate occurrence, a bull unexpectedly ran into a house in Malluru village, resulting in several serious injuries. Fortunately, the residents were able to escape in time, averting a larger catastrophe.
The events took place under the jurisdiction of the Byadagi police station.
