Kolkata, Dec 12 (NationPress) Just two days after the tragic demise of Satyajit Ghosh, the younger son of Bhola Ghosh, a crucial witness in the criminal proceedings against Sheikh Shahjahan, a suspended leader of the Trinamool Congress from Sandeshkhali in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, the driver of the truck responsible for the accident continues to evade capture.
Satyajit lost his life on Wednesday, and the driver, known as Abdul Ali Mollah, remains unapprehended.
On the day of the incident, Satyajit was with his father, Bhola Ghosh, at the trial court for the purpose of documenting his statement against Shahjahan. While Bhola narrowly escaped injury, both Satyajit and the driver of their vehicle, Shahnur Molla, succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
Initial reports suggested a head-on collision with the truck. However, Bhola Ghosh later revealed to the media that the truck had struck their vehicle from behind, not just once but twice, and continued to push them until their vehicle toppled into a roadside gutter.
Eyewitness accounts have supported Ghosh's assertions.
On Thursday, Bhola Ghosh filed a formal complaint at the Nazat police station under the jurisdiction of the Basirhat district police, naming eight individuals he accused of being responsible for the accident, which claimed his son's life while he barely escaped.
The complaint prominently lists Sheikh Shahjahan and his wife, Taslima Bibi, as the principal suspects.
Later that evening, investigators from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), who have been probing various cases against Shahjahan, visited Bhola Ghosh's home to gather information about the incident.
The CBI recently presented evidence of approximately 3,000 individual complaints filed against Sheikh Shahjahan to the Calcutta High Court.
These complaints primarily concern attacks on Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials and their accompanying Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) personnel outside Shahjahan's residence in Sandeshkhali last year, sources indicated.
Shahjahan’s associates allegedly assaulted the ED officials and CAPF members during an attempted raid linked to an ongoing investigation into a significant public distribution system (PDS) scam in West Bengal.
Additional complaints involve the unlawful seizure of land in Sandeshkhali, the forced conversion of agricultural land into fish farming operations by introducing saline water, as well as instances of sexual exploitation of local women.
