Chamarajanagar (Karnataka), April 13 (NationPress) — Farmers and wildlife advocates in Karnataka have voiced their strong opposition to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s recent statement during an election campaign in Kerala, regarding the reopening of night traffic through the Bandipur reserve forest, located along the Kerala–Karnataka border.
In addition, they have expressed serious concerns regarding her proposal for a railway connection linking Keralam with Nanjangud in Karnataka.
Farmers gathered on the Mysuru–Chamarajanagar highway on Monday, staging a protest that blocked the road. Their frustration over Priyanka Gandhi Vadra's announcement was evident, especially as she made these remarks in the presence of Karnataka's Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre.

Criticizing Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, Bhagyaraj remarked, “These announcements were made while our Forest Minister was present, yet he has remained silent. He appears to be submissive to the Gandhi family. Our MLAs and ministers seem to prioritize Congress national leadership over the welfare of our state. What can we expect from them?”
He further asserted, “Let it be clear: the Bandipur and Nagarhole reserve forests do not belong to Priyanka Gandhi Vadra or her family. They are public resources.”
“If she aims to garner votes in Kerala, she should focus on that region to earn them. Any attempts that jeopardize Karnataka's interests, harm its forests, or promote illegal activities will face our unwavering opposition. This region rightfully belongs to the people of Karnataka and future generations,” he cautioned.
