Imphal, Sep 28 (NationPress) In a series of operations, security forces have apprehended four militants affiliated with two proscribed organizations and seized a significant amount of arms and ammunition across various districts on Sunday, as reported by officials.
A police representative indicated that among the detained militants, three are members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (KCP) and one is associated with the People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
The arrests took place in the Imphal East district, where three extremists were detained, while one individual was captured in the Imphal West district. The identified KCP militants are Angom Achou Singh, Ngairangbam Apollo Meetei, and Md. Alam Khan, whereas the PREPAK member is Ningthoujam Bidyasagar Singh, also known as Nanao or Yaithoiba (35).
Authorities recovered a double-barrel rifle, several mobile handsets, and Aadhar cards from the arrested militants.
Additionally, security forces confiscated a range of arms and a substantial cache of ammunition from the Patsoi region in Imphal West district.
The seized weapons include four Single Barrel Guns, a modified Sniper Rifle, and a 9mm Pistol. A large assortment of various types of ammunition was also recovered, which included three high-power Hand Grenades, three detonators, bulletproof plates, fourteen helmets, two Baofeng Handsets, three camouflage T-Shirts, and three bags.
Officials noted that security operations and area domination efforts are ongoing across vulnerable districts.
A total of 115 checkpoints have been established throughout Manipur, encompassing both hilly and valley areas, to hinder unauthorized movements of potential threats and suspicious vehicles.
However, police reported that no detentions were made at the checkpoints during the preceding 12 hours.
Furthermore, security forces have been providing escorts for numerous vehicles transporting essential goods along the Imphal-Jiribam National Highway (NH-37).
Enhanced security measures are being implemented in all sensitive locations, with security convoys assigned to critical stretches to ensure safe transportation of vehicles. The Manipur Police have urged the public to remain cautious of rumors and to disregard misleading videos.
