Kolkata, April 4 (NationPress) BJP leader and Kharagpur candidate Dilip Ghosh has accused Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of eroding constitutional institutions and inciting lawlessness across Bengal. In an interview with IANS, Ghosh stated, “The extent to which the government under Mamata Banerjee has descended is clear. They challenge the Home Minister; a black flag was raised against the Prime Minister. Black flags were also shown to the Election Commissioner, and they’ve humiliated the President. What more is left? They blatantly disregard the Supreme Court's directives. We advocate for one nation, one law.”
Addressing the Malda case, Ghosh alleged that political backing and malpractices are rampant. “It's quite revealing. The moment the CBI or ED arrives, the state machinery springs into action. The individual arrested was seen alongside Mamata Banerjee. Why was his arrest only made today? Because the truth has come to light. This isn’t just about Malda; we’ve been raising these issues for quite some time,” he conveyed to IANS.
Expressing alarm over voter registration, Ghosh asserted, “Half of the names have been purged from each booth. No one has come forward to complete their registrations. Verification shows that 50 lakh individuals have not registered, and even now, names continue to vanish. There are over one crore fraudulent voters, many of whom are foreigners. Individuals involved in anti-national activities find refuge in Bengal. Why is this happening? Because of Didi.”
In a significant development, the Malda case has escalated, prompting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to transfer the investigation to the National Investigation Agency earlier on Friday. An NIA team is currently investigating the matter.
This follows stern observations from the Supreme Court of India, which expressed grave concern regarding an incident where seven judicial officials conducting an SIR exercise were allegedly taken hostage in the Malda district. The apex court described the situation as “deplorable” and demanded explanations from the state’s Home Secretary, Director General of Police, and other officials concerning their inaction.
The court instructed the Election Commission to initiate an inquiry through central agencies such as the CBI or NIA and to ensure immediate security for judicial officers, including the possible deployment of central forces if necessary. The investigating agency is expected to present a preliminary report to the Supreme Court by April 6.
