Global Advocacy for Ayurveda: Rajasthan Governor's Vision

Jaipur, Dec 5 (NationPress) Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde on Thursday urged for the modernization of India's ancient Ayurvedic knowledge and called for the patenting, certification, and global advancement of its unique medicinal attributes.
During the international seminar titled ‘Ayurvedic Medicine Standardisation – Challenges and Solutions’, held by the National Ayurveda University in Jodhpur, the Governor emphasized the exploration of Ayurveda's capabilities to treat incurable diseases through thorough research and testing.
Stressing on the significance of Ayurveda’s branding and marketing, the Governor encouraged stakeholders to enhance the appeal and accessibility of Ayurvedic products for a global audience.
Additionally, he advocated for effective policies to ensure their appropriate promotion and integration into contemporary healthcare.
The Governor highlighted the contributions of ancient Indian medical luminaries such as Atreya, Charak, and Sushrut, expressing concern over how India’s traditional knowledge was taken abroad and modified.
He further called for unified efforts to patent rare Ayurvedic formulations and restore their widespread use.
Reflecting on India’s rich legacy, Bagde referenced the destruction of Nalanda University’s library by Bakhtiyar Khilji, who aimed to obliterate India’s intellectual heritage. Despite such attempts, he asserted that the essence of Ayurveda remains strong.
He urged Ayurvedacharyas to disseminate this ancient knowledge globally and stressed the importance of herbal medicine and written texts in safeguarding this tradition.
Earlier, the Governor inaugurated the newly built structure of the Homeopathy College under the National Ayurveda University.
The seminar served as a platform for experts to deliberate on the challenges in standardizing Ayurvedic medicine and to seek solutions for integrating this traditional system into modern medical practices.
