New Delhi, Oct 8 (NationPress) In a significant development, Google unveiled an extensive upgrade to its AI-driven Search functionality in India on Wednesday, introducing AI Mode in seven additional Indian languages -- Bengali, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

This expansion means that millions more individuals across the nation can now pose intricate inquiries and receive comprehensive answers in their language of choice.

Previously available solely in English and Hindi, AI Mode enables users to delve into more profound subjects and engage in longer, more conversational dialogues.

According to Google, the feedback on AI Mode since its introduction in India has been “remarkable,” with users employing it for a range of activities including education, writing, product comparisons, and trip planning.

The new language capabilities are fueled by Google's proprietary Gemini model for Search, which is crafted to comprehend the subtleties of local languages instead of merely translating terms. This rollout is set to commence within the upcoming week.

In tandem with this language expansion, Google has also launched ‘Search Live’, a feature within AI Mode that enables users to interact with Search using voice and camera.

This functionality allows individuals to converse with Google and receive immediate assistance based on the context of their surroundings.

India becomes the first nation outside the US to experience Search Live, initially available in English and Hindi.

For instance, users can direct their camera at various ingredients and inquire, “What’s the best way to combine these to make an iced matcha?” to obtain instant instructions.

Google stated that this feature is particularly beneficial for DIY projects, troubleshooting, schoolwork, and travel planning.

Search Live is rolling out today and will be accessible to more users in the coming weeks. To utilize it, users can launch the Google app and click the ‘Live’ icon beneath the search bar or access Google Lens and select ‘Live’ at the bottom.

Google emphasized that these updates exemplify its robust dedication to making Search more intuitive, conversational, and accessible for everyone in India, empowering users to “truly ask anything.”
