Key Takeaways
Gandhinagar, Jan 21 (NationPress) The government of Gujarat has allocated over Rs 9,466 crore in financial support to more than 32 lakh farmers impacted by unseasonal and heavy rainfall, as confirmed by Minister Jitu Vaghani on Wednesday.
Vaghani addressed the press after a state Cabinet meeting led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel.
The Cabinet assessed the implementation of the agricultural relief package, where online bills amounting to Rs 9,516 crore have been generated for over 3.2 million farmers to date.
“Currently, a total of 32.49 lakh farmers have received more than Rs 9,466 crore directly deposited into their bank accounts,” he stated.
Detailing the situation, the minister explained that unseasonal rainfall in October 2025 negatively impacted crops across 33 districts. Online bills worth Rs 8,610 crore were created for 30,06,865 beneficiaries, of which Rs 8,571 crore has already reached 29,93,689 farmers.
Additionally, he noted that severe rainfall in September 2025 affected five districts, prompting bills worth Rs 792 crore for 2,34,386 beneficiaries. “Assistance totaling Rs 791.19 crore has been disbursed to 2,33,777 farmers in these areas,” Vaghani reported.
Gujarat experienced unseasonal rains in September and October last year, coinciding with key harvesting periods for crops such as cotton, groundnut, and pulses. The abrupt weather conditions led to significant crop damage, prompting the state government to initiate a substantial relief package.
The Minister also provided information about land improvement assistance, stating that 41,777 applications were submitted under this scheme. Online bills worth Rs 113.01 crore were prepared for 34,615 beneficiaries, with Rs 104.37 crore already disbursed to 31,958 farmers.
Vaghani emphasized that the government continues to oversee the disbursement process, ensuring that timely assistance is provided to all eligible farmers affected by the previous year’s rains.
