Dang (Gujarat), March 20 (NationPress) A farmer residing in the Dang district of Gujarat has realized his aspiration for a permanent home, thanks to government financial assistance, showcasing the ongoing efforts to provide rural housing solutions in the area.
Sonubhai Dokia, who hails from Jharan village and makes a living through agriculture, received Rs 1,20,000 from the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) after completing the application process through the local panchayat, along with submitting necessary documentation.
Additionally, he secured Rs 21,610 from the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), which aided in the construction of his new residence.
By merging this assistance with his savings earned from labor, Dokia successfully completed the building of his house on time.
“Thanks to this scheme and some of my savings, I constructed a solid permanent home. Without this support, I would not have been able to achieve this. I am deeply grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for this beneficial initiative for the underprivileged,” expressed Dokia.
He emphasized that his family now enjoys a safer and improved living environment following the completion of their new home.
This housing initiative is actively being executed across rural regions of the state, where eligible individuals are receiving financial backing to erect permanent housing.
Initiated in 2015, the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana is a prominent government program aimed at achieving “housing for all” by facilitating the construction of permanent homes equipped with essential amenities for economically disadvantaged sections in both rural and urban landscapes.
With a primary focus on the rural sector, the scheme addresses households that are either homeless or residing in temporary or dilapidated structures, enabling them to construct pucca houses through direct financial aid.
Beneficiaries are identified via comprehensive surveys, and funds are directly deposited into their bank accounts to assist with construction.
As per available data, over 10.27 lakh houses have been approved under PMAY in Gujarat, with nearly 9.63 lakh already finalized, reflecting noteworthy advancements in the state’s housing initiative.
