Gandhinagar, Jan 22 (NationPress) On the occasion of the 77th Republic Day on January 26, the government of Gujarat will honor 43 distinguished personnel from the Home Guards, Border Wing, Civil Defence, and Gram Rakshak Dal (GRD) for their long-standing service.
The Director General of Civil Defence and Home Guards has declared the awarding of the Governor’s Medal and the Chief Minister’s Medal, which will be given during the state-level Republic Day celebrations.
This year, Vazir Umarbhai Bloch, a Gram Rakshak Dal jawan from Gir Somnath district, is the only recipient of the Governor’s Medal in Gujarat. He was selected for this highest state honor due to his unwavering dedication and exceptional service.
The Chief Minister’s Medal will honor a significant number of personnel, predominantly from the Home Guards. Notable awardees include Senior Platoon Commander Hareshbhai Punjabhai Khachar of Amreli and District Commandant Sanjaykumar Veerjalal Kayastha of Bharuch.
Other awardees from the Home Guards include Rajendrasinh Bhikhubha Jethwa, Jaideepsinh Dilubha Jadeja, and Nikhil Jayendrakumar Lukka from Porbandar; Mahendrabhai Parmar, Prakash Kumar Chavda, Vishnubhai Prajapati, and others from Gandhinagar; Sanjaybhai Baraiya (Rajkot Rural), Danny Kumar Pathak (Ahmedabad Rural), Kapoorji Thakor (Patan), and others.
From the Border Wing Home Guards (Bhuj–Kutch No. 2 Battalion), Kalji Devalji Sodha, Satidan Vodha, and Karsan Nameri Garwa will be honored with the Chief Minister’s Medal for their contributions to border security.
Personnel from the Civil Defence department including Jethanand Lalwani, Ketan Bhatt, Sureshbhai Patel, and Vishalsinh Sindhav from the Ahmedabad head office, as well as Devyani Jagar Acharya from Surat, will also receive accolades for their service. A total of nine jawans from the Gram Rakshak Dal will be recognized for their vital contributions to rural security.
This includes Ramnikbhai Chauhan and Savishibhai Badaliya of Botad; Chandubhai Sodha and Natwarsinh Sodha from Kheda-Nadiad; Lakhabhai Rathod from East Kutch; and others.
All medals will be presented by esteemed state dignitaries during the Republic Day celebrations at Vav-Tharad in Banaskantha district, signifying a moment of pride for Gujarat’s dedicated service personnel and their families.
