Raipur, Jan 25 (NationPress) In a remarkable acknowledgment of their outstanding service, 11 police officials from Chhattisgarh have been honored with the esteemed President's Police Medals in celebration of Republic Day 2026.
Among these awards are the President’s Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM) and 10 Medals for Meritorious Service (MSM), as stated in a press release from the Union Home Ministry.
During a special ceremony at the police grounds in the state capital on Monday, Governor Ramesh Deka will present these accolades to the recipients, recognizing their exceptional contributions to law enforcement and public safety.
The announcement from the Union Home Ministry reveals that Director General of Prisons Himanshu Gupta will be awarded the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service for his remarkable dedication to correctional administration and prison reforms.
The Police Medal for Meritorious Service, which celebrates valuable and committed service exemplified by duty, will be given to several senior and field officers.
The awardees consist of IG Dhruv Gupta (AV, PHQ); DIG and SSP Surajpur Prashant Thakur; Commandant 19th Battalion Chhattisgarh Armed Force Jagdalpur Shweta Rajamani; Superintendent of Police District Koriya Ravi Kumar Kurre; Inspector (A/Steno) PHQ Kaushalya Bhatt; Sub-Inspector (Intelligence) PHQ Rohit Kumar Jha; Inspector Special Branch PHQ Kamlesh Kumar Mishra; Platoon Commander 13th Battalion CAF Korba Dal Singh Namdev; Company Commander 15th Battalion CAF Bijapur Dilip Kumar Sinha; and APC 1st Battalion CAF Bhilai Sushil Kumar Barua.
These medals are part of a national recognition where a total of 982 personnel from various sectors including police, fire services, home guard, civil defense, and correctional services have received awards for bravery and distinguished service.
