The voter revision initiative, which commenced on October 27, 2025, has successfully completed its enumeration phase, culminating in the publication of the draft electoral roll on December 19, 2025.
Official statistics indicate that as of Thursday, a total of 654,594 applications in Form-6 and Form-6A have been submitted for the inclusion of names in the final electoral roll.
Simultaneously, 1,259,229 applications in Form-7 were filed requesting the deletion of names, while 504,835 applications in Form-8 were received for correcting details and changing residences.
In terms of geographical distribution, Ahmedabad accounted for the highest number of Form-6 and Form-6A applications at 97,664, followed by Surat with 54,797 and Vadodara with 34,373.
Conversely, districts like Dang logged 2,625 applications, Narmada (3,120), and Aravalli (3,805).
On the deletion side, Ahmedabad led the charge with 240,549 applications in Form-7, trailed by Surat with 110,286 and Kheda with 135,174.
Bharuch recorded 91,169 deletion requests, while Junagadh had 61,237.
Other districts with noteworthy inclusion application numbers include Banaskantha with 32,923, Bhavnagar with 29,295, Rajkot with 28,257, and Panchmahal with 20,771.
For deletions, significant figures were reported from Banaskantha (60,543), Jamnagar (44,350), Bhavnagar (40,555), and Gir Somnath (34,007). Smaller districts like Chhota Udepur and Dang registered 943 and 506 deletion applications, respectively.
Election officials stated that claims and objections can be submitted until January 30, 2026, after which verification and resolution will proceed concurrently.
"All claims and objections will undergo thorough examination according to established protocols to maintain the integrity of the electoral roll," an official commented.
Reaffirming the purpose of the SIR initiative, the Election Commission emphasized that the voter revision process seeks to ensure the accuracy and inclusiveness of the voters' list, adhering to the principle: "No eligible voter should be excluded, and no ineligible voter should be included."
