Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Shimla, April 7 (NationPress) In light of the ongoing financial challenges, the Himachal Pradesh government declared on Tuesday that no government employee will receive an extension or re-employment opportunity.
The Department of Personnel has formally communicated this decision.
Under the new guidelines, no administrative department is permitted to propose extensions for retiring officers or employees to the government.
The government has explicitly stated that future applications of this nature will not be entertained. All departments are required to adhere strictly to these directives.
However, it has been specified that employees currently serving under extensions or reappointments will not face termination. They will continue in their roles until their respective tenures conclude.
After their terms end, they will be relieved of their positions. Last month, the government rescinded the 'Cabinet Rank' status previously granted to various officials, including the Chairman, Vice-Chairman, and Deputy Chairman of Boards, Corporations, and Commissions, as well as Principal Advisors and Political Advisors.
A government spokesperson stated that this decision aims to refine administrative protocols. Additionally, 20 percent of the salaries and monthly allowances for the relevant authorities will remain deferred until September 30.
The spokesperson further mentioned that all Administrative Secretaries have been instructed to take immediate action regarding this matter.
During the Assembly session on March 20, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Sukhu, who also oversees the finance portfolio, presented the Economic Survey for 2021-22, revealing that the state's Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for the fiscal year 2025-26 is projected to reach approximately Rs 2.54 lakh crore, reflecting a robust growth of around 10.1 percent compared to the previous year.
In real terms, he indicated that the state economy is anticipated to expand by about 8.3 percent, showcasing persistent economic activity across significant sectors despite global uncertainties and climatic challenges.
“This achievement underscores the intrinsic strength and adaptability of Himachal Pradesh’s economy,” he emphasized.
The advance estimates indicate that the GSDP at constant prices (2011-12), or real Gross State Domestic Product for 2025-26, is projected to be Rs 156,681 crore, compared to Rs 144,656 crore in 2024-25, demonstrating an 8.3 percent growth rate for 2025-26 against 6.4 percent for the first revised 2024-25.
According to the advance estimates for 2025-26, the gross state value added from the primary sector is expected to grow at 8.4 percent in constant prices.
For the 2025-26 fiscal year, the gross state value added in the primary sector is projected at Rs 18,824 crore, up from Rs 17,362 crore in 2024-25 (first revised) at constant prices.
