Kolkata, Aug 4 (NationPress) The head of BJP's IT Cell and central observer for West Bengal, Amit Malviya, brought to light an incident where a group of Muslim women assaulted a group of Hindu women in Kolkata after the latter declined to chant the slogan "Allah Hu Akbar" in a public area, as demanded by the aggressors.
Malviya shared a post on his official social media, which included a video released earlier by the BJP's West Bengal unit. The footage featured one of the assaulted Hindu women recounting the incident that occurred in South Kolkata.
However, IANS was unable to verify the video’s authenticity.
In the video, the victim claimed that the assault on her and other Hindu women happened at Dhakuria Lake in South Kolkata.
According to her, they were confronted by a group of Muslim women who insisted they chant the "Allah Hu Akbar" slogan.
"One of us calmly pointed out that this was a public space, not a religious site. She also argued that being Hindus, they could not be compelled to chant that specific religious slogan. Subsequently, she was attacked," the woman stated in the video.
In response to the video, BJP leader Malviya asserted that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has accomplished what even Mohammad Ali Jinnah and his associate Huseyn Suhrawardy could not achieve: making Kolkata unsafe for native Bengali Hindus.
Malviya remarked, "Once a vibrant, affable, and cosmopolitan city, Kolkata now lives in fear. If this is the state of women in the capital, one can only fathom the horrors happening in the smaller towns and villages."
He emphasized that incidents like Sandeshkhali are prevalent throughout West Bengal, and he accused Mamata Banerjee's silence on this matter as complicity.
At the time this report was prepared, there had been no response from the police or the ruling Trinamool Congress regarding the incident.
