Mumbai, Jan 15 (NationPress) Renowned artist Honey Singh has issued an apology following criticism for his controversial statement “Gaadi mein s karo, Dilli ki thand mein” made during a concert in Delhi.
On Thursday, January 15, he took to social media to share a video and a written message expressing his remorse.
In his video, Honey Singh asserted that his comments had been edited and distorted.
Shortly after, he posted a written note, stating, “I want to address a video of mine that is currently circulating online and has caused offense and discomfort to many. I sincerely regret how my words were portrayed and the objectionable interpretations that have arisen from it.”
He further explained, “My intention was never to hurt, insult, or offend anyone. Just days before this incident, I had discussions with leading gynaecologists and sexologists who highlighted the increasing concerns over sexually transmitted diseases among the youth due to unprotected sex. This conversation lingered in my mind.”
He continued, “While attending the show of Nanku and Karun, and witnessing a substantial Gen Z audience, I aimed to convey a message about the significance of safety in a language they relate to, which is often used in the OTT content they consume.”
He added, “Nevertheless, I deeply regret that the manner in which I expressed this message was inappropriate and unacceptable to many.”
He elaborated, “I extend my heartfelt apologies to everyone who felt hurt or disrespected. Moving forward, I assure you that I will be more cautious and responsible in my speech and actions.”
