Patna, Feb 25 (NationPress) A third-year student at IIT-Patna tragically ended his life by jumping from the seventh floor of the hostel building after cutting his wrist on Tuesday. The individual has been identified as Rahul Lavari, hailing from Hyderabad. Despite being quickly transported to the nearby Subhash Hospital, medical professionals were unable to save him, declaring him dead shortly after arrival.

This incident sent shockwaves through the IIT-Patna campus located in Bihta. Following Rahul's fall, a large gathering of students quickly assembled at the scene and informed both the IIT-Patna administration and local authorities.

The district police and college officials swiftly arrived to conduct an investigation. “We were notified that a student had jumped from the seventh floor. We rushed him to a private hospital where he was pronounced dead. Investigations are currently ongoing,” stated Vivek Kumar, the officer in charge of the IIT police station.

Initial investigations revealed that Rahul had been experiencing significant stress for several days prior to the incident. It appears he made this desperate decision after considerable contemplation, ensuring he would not survive by cutting the veins in his wrist before jumping.

The administration of IIT-Patna has yet to issue an official statement regarding the suicide. Authorities have recovered Rahul's mobile devices, laptops, and other personal effects in an effort to ascertain the underlying reasons for this tragic act.

Police are diligently searching for answers to unresolved questions, such as whether there were other contributing factors, or if stress and academic pressure were significant influences in this incident.

“His mobile devices and laptops have been seized and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for a thorough investigation. The victim's family has been notified about the incident,” Kumar added.

“We have retrieved the body and forwarded it to the mortuary at the Danapur sub-divisional hospital. A post-mortem examination will be conducted in the presence of the deceased's family,” Kumar confirmed.
