Jaipur, Jan 20 (NationPress) A student at the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT) tragically took her own life by jumping from the top of her hostel, as reported by police officials on Monday.

The unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday evening at around 9:50 p.m.. A suicide note was discovered near her body, which stated, "Either I was happy in childhood, or I was happy in dreams." However, the note lacked a definitive explanation for her actions.

According to ACP (Malviya Nagar) Aditya Poonia, the student has been identified as Divya Raj Meghwal, a 21-year-old from Desuri, Pali in Rajasthan.

Divya was a first-year student pursuing a B.Arch. degree at MNIT.

As per ACP Poonia, she leaped from the sixth floor of the hostel building. The Malviya Nagar police have transferred the body to the mortuary of Jaipuria Hospital and are currently investigating the note.

Divya began her studies at MNIT in July 2024 and lived alone in a room on the fourth floor of Vinodini Hostel, situated on campus. At approximately 9:50 p.m., she reportedly jumped from the sixth floor. The loud thud from her fall alerted other students, who rushed out of their rooms to find Divya on the ground. The hostel staff quickly notified the college administration and the police.

Divya was immediately taken to Jaipuria Hospital, where she was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Malviya Nagar SHO Sangram Singh stated that police are questioning nearby students and staff.

Divya's room has been examined, and her mobile phone is under scrutiny to ascertain her last interactions.

Her parents, both of whom are educators, have been informed about the incident. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities striving to uncover the events leading to this tragic situation, according to officials.

Malviya Nagar SHO Sangram Singh remarked, "Police are interviewing students and staff. We have also searched Divya's room and are checking her mobile phone to discover her last communications."
