United Nations, Oct 10 (NationPress) India has criticized Pakistan for its allegations regarding Kashmir, asserting that the principles of democracy are “alien” to the nation.
During a session at the General Assembly Committee on Social, Humanitarian and Cultural Issues, Indian MP PP Chaudhary condemned Pakistan, stating that little can be anticipated from a country whose Army chief referred to it as a “dump truck”.
He emphasized that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir has achieved remarkable progress “in multiple spheres”, which reflects India’s dedicated efforts to enhance the daily lives of its citizens.
“The traditions and values of democracy are foreign to Pakistan, and it is unsurprising that they have opted not to recognize the will of the people as recently as October 2024,” he noted.
“A nation that routinely manipulates its elections, incarcerates popular leaders, bombards its populace, and is currently violently suppressing peaceful protests should feel ashamed to criticize others,” he stated.
Last week, security forces from Pakistan reportedly killed at least 12 individuals in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir as part of Islamabad’s harsh campaign against demands for governmental reform.
“The reality is that Pakistan is attempting to shift attention away from its own failures as a state. Nothing more can be expected from a country whose Army chief has been described as a dump truck,” Chaudhary added.
He also condemned Pakistan for belittling the intelligence of UN members with its absurd claims.
“Pakistan continues to exhibit complete disregard for this esteemed forum by misusing the principle of self-determination to advance its narrow political ambitions,” he remarked.
Chaudhary’s comments were in response to statements made by Pakistan against India earlier in the committee, despite Islamabad’s claims being irrelevant to the topic at hand.
