Suva, March 10 (NationPress) On Tuesday, India and Fiji engaged in discussions aimed at enhancing collaboration across various sectors, including digital and multimedia communications, climate initiatives, waste management, as well as training and capacity building.
The meeting took place between India's High Commissioner to Fiji, Suneet Mehta, and Fiji's Minister for Information, Environment, and Climate Change, Lynda Tabuya.
According to a post on X from India's High Commission in Fiji, "High Commissioner Suneet Mehta expressed pleasure in meeting Minister for Information, Environment & Climate Change Hon. Lynda Tabuya. The discussions were productive, focusing on the enhancement of India-Fiji cooperation in numerous domains, including digital and multimedia communications, climate initiatives, waste management, training, and capacity building."
Earlier, on March 6, Mehta also conferred with Fiji Development Bank's Chief Executive Officer, Filimone Waqabaca, concerning opportunities to fortify cooperation in development finance, investments, and sustainable economic growth between both nations.

Last month, India's Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Pabitra Margherita, met with Fiji's Minister for Finance, Commerce and Business Development, Esrom Immanuel, in New Delhi. They discussed bilateral relations, shared priorities, and potential collaboration in digital infrastructure.

The relationship between India and Fiji is characterized by mutual respect, collaboration, and robust cultural and people-to-people connections. The bilateral relationship gained significant momentum following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Fiji in November 2014, coinciding with the inaugural meeting of the Forum for India-Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC), as stated by the Indian High Commission in Fiji.
