New Delhi, Oct 17 (NationPress) India is quickly establishing itself as a global leader in the fields of regenerative medicine and cellular therapy innovations, announced Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda on Friday.
His remarks were delivered via video during the 17th Annual Conference of the International Association of Neurorestoratology (IANR), which took place alongside the 7th Annual Conference of the Society of Regenerative Sciences (India), hosted here.
"India is swiftly becoming a global leader in regenerative medicine, with our medical professionals pioneering innovations in stem cell and cellular therapy," said Nadda.
He emphasized the recent breakthroughs in treating neurological and orthopaedic conditions, highlighting these as key government priorities.
This two-day event (October 17-18) convenes over 500 doctors, scientists, and patient advocates from India and other countries to discuss the latest developments in regenerative medicine and neurorestoratology.
Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram underscored the transformative power of scientific innovation in healthcare, praising Indian researchers for elevating the nation’s status as a global leader in regenerative medicine.
He also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to consider incorporating cell therapy for individuals with disabilities into the Ayushman Bharat scheme.
The conference focused on the application of regenerative medicine through cellular therapy, aimed at repairing damaged tissues and enhancing recovery for patients with neurological, orthopaedic, and other challenging conditions.
With over 2.68 crore disabled citizens in India, participants stressed that these therapies could significantly improve the quality of life for patients once deemed untreatable.
India leads globally in the number of scientific publications on neurological disorders.
"Our initiatives in regenerative medicine utilizing cellular therapy provide solutions for patients with limited options. India is at the forefront of research, and Prime Minister Modi has championed these efforts from the beginning, facilitating the establishment of stem cell centers and fostering international partnerships," stated Dr. Alok Sharma, representing the Society of Regenerative Sciences, while advocating for the inclusion of cellular therapies in the Ayushman Bharat program.
