Mumbai, Oct 16 (NationPress) Through groundbreaking initiatives like the PM MITRA Parks, the National Technical Textiles Mission, and a robust emphasis on sustainability and global competitiveness, India is rapidly establishing itself as a global leader in textiles and fashion,” stated the Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Pabitra Margherita.

The minister noted that today's fashion landscape is undergoing a significant transformation—from mere commercial success to a focus on conscious creation.

“There is a growing emphasis on sustainability, ethical fashion, and slow design. A renewed pride in rediscovering India’s textile heritage is evident—from natural dyeing and hand weaving to recycling and zero-waste tailoring. The blend of traditional skills with global perspectives is making Indian design one of the most thrilling in the world today,” he expressed at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Mumbai.

NIFT Mumbai has recently inaugurated new academic buildings, signifying its relentless quest for top-notch infrastructure and advanced learning environments, enhancing its reputation as a premier fashion institution in India.

The minister also unveiled a commemorative plaque for the new academic block and observed demonstrations of technical textiles along with curated student displays. His presence emphasized the government’s dedication to fostering future leaders in design and innovation.

During the event, he remarked, "It is this very culture of innovation and creativity that NIFT Mumbai and NIFT Daman nurture daily. With cutting-edge infrastructure, expert faculty, and a dynamic student body, both campuses stand out as some of the most esteemed design institutions in the country."

The convocation ceremony celebrated the graduation of 312 students from NIFT Mumbai and 29 from NIFT Daman, recognizing their achievements and creativity.

This significant event further solidifies NIFT Mumbai’s commitment to empowering students through exceptional education and progressive facilities.
